Presented by Walter Cronkite and featuring leading political and literary figures and unflinching images of urban and rural life, the film portrayed Ireland as ‘a poverty-stricken country riddled with backwardness, unemployment and emigration’. With an introduction by Dr Eibhear Walshe.
